Spooky Dating Ideas for Fall

Fall is upon us! It’s time to take out your fluffy sweaters and sip warm drinks as temperatures drop. The season of falling leaves, spooky stories, and pumpkin spice lattes brings with it two major festive dates, Halloween and Thanksgiving, and a plethora of contrasting cozy and chilling activities to do with a date. Whether you’re going out on a first date, a third date, or planning something with a long-term partner, you’re bound to find a fun and/or spooky date activity that is perfect for you and your beau. So light a pumpkin-scented candle and check out this list of possibilities:

  • Visit a  Haunted Maze

  • Make fall-inspired foods together

  • Visit a pumpkin patch or go apple picking

  • Dress up for a Halloween party

  • Have a themed movie night

Visit a  Haunted Maze

For many of us, fall means one thing: spooky season. These next few months will be perfect for horror fans and thrill seekers who love to experience all things Halloween. If you and your date are lovers of all things spooky, now is the perfect time to search for the haunted maze closest to you to scream in terror and joy as ghosts and slashers jump up at you. But do you want to know the main reason why taking your date to a haunted maze is an amazing idea? Just like with a horror movie, being scared is the perfect reason to cling to each other. And once it’s over, the laugh you can have after can be a great bonding moment.

Make fall-inspired foods together

As the temperatures drop and staying outside for long periods might not be the most comfortable option, a simple date idea is to stay home and have a thematic baking night. There are many fall foods and desserts to choose from: squash soup, caramel apples, pumpkin pie, Halloween cupcakes. And if you don’t know how to bake, don’t worry: you can still enjoy a hands-on food date by decorating pre-made cookies or carving pumpkins (we hear Trader Joe’s has a whole haunted house kit this year). You can even combine this with the next idea and eat your desserts while watching a scary film!

Have a themed movie night

One of the best fall dates is to organize a themed movie night with a lot of teeth-breaking candies and bone-chilling films. Whether you decide to revisit classic horror films or sink your teeth into a new story, the combination of love and horror is bound to lead to an amazing night for two. Pro tip: for streaming enthusiasts, it might be worth it to check out new segments of the classics we all love, such as Hocus Pocus 2, or even going out to the movie theater to watch Halloween Ends, the last chapter of the chase between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers. Nothing better than using a particularly scary scene as an excuse to cozy up to your date!

Visit a pumpkin patch or go apple picking

Another seasonal date possibility is to go apple picking or visit a pumpkin patch with your partner. If you live in a big city, taking a day to go to an idyllic countryside farm is like a small romantic getaway. You can enjoy a reprieve from the city rush and connect with your partner with nature as your soundtrack. The best part? The date doesn’t have to end when you leave the farm. Take your fresh apples or pumpkins and extend your date by baking pies or making soups!

Dress up for a Halloween party: couples costume contests

With Halloween right around the corner, there are plenty of Halloween parties where you can dance and shake to classic spooky tunes and enjoy thematic drinks. The best part of going to a Halloween party as a couple is the costumes! It’s a perfect opportunity to design a couple’s costume that reflects your  personalities. Maybe you can even win a costume contest together!

So don that sweater, grab your PSL, and enjoy your autumn-y date!
